Ndudi Elumelu, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has expressed support for the directives given by President Muhammadu Buhari to security agents to shoot at sight on anyone bearing AK-47 rifles in the country.
Elumelu in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today described the order at a welcome development, however noted that such directives should have been pronounced directly by the President himself.
He said, “The statement credited to the media aide to Mr President is a welcome development but I would have preferred that Mr President himself made that broadcast”
“His media aide making that statement is not the same thing as Mr President making that statement himself. I would like to see more of Mr President making that statement himself.”
The lawmaker representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta state also said he expected that Buhari spoke on the activities of the herdsmen, which are inimical to the peace of the country.
