The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Oyo state now stands at 661.
The State governor, Seyi Makinde made this known via a his verified Twitter handle, while announcing that the state has recorded 56 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19.
“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 56 suspected cases came back positive,” Governor Makinde stated in one of the tweets.
The new cases were reported in 13 Local Government Areas of the state, with Saki West LGA recording 14, which is the highest figure.
Other local government areas with covid-10 cases include Akinyele (10), Oluyole (9), Ibadan North (6), Ibadan South-East (5). Ibadan South-West (4) and Ibadan North-West (2),
Atisbo, Saki East, Ido, Ona Ara, Ibarapa North, and Egbeda LGAs recorded one apiece.
Governor Makinde, also disclosed in another tweet that the state has recorded one more death from coronavirus, making the total number of death recorded from the pandemic rising to nine.
Makinde, who is also the Chairman of the State COVID-19 Task Force, however enjoined residents with strange fever, sudden loss of taste or smell, and other COVID-19 symptoms to promptly report to the nearest community-based testing centre in their community.
