An Abuja based businessman, and founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa Foundation, Arc. Hassan Giwa has commended the Lagun-in-Council and kingmakers of Lagun Community in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, over the confirmation of the candidacy of Chief Nojeem Lekan Bello as the new Ola of Lagun.
Speaking at the presentation of the designated monarch to the people of the community, Mr Giwa, a prominent son of Lagun, commended the kingmakers for abiding by the tradition and culture of the community.
He said the culture and tradition of Lagun community allows the rotation of the Ola of Lagun chieftaincy position between two ruling lines of Otun and Balogun.
The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun had on Tuesday, November 13, 2019, officially presented the designated monarch, Chief Bello to the people, thereby laying to rest, agitations surrounding the enthronement of the new monarch for the community.
Giwa expressed that the decision taken by the kingmakers will go a long way in the history of the community.
According to him, “the decision of the kingmakers to follow the path of culture and tradition would go down in the history of the community. It is a landmark and good precedent, so it is a pride to me and everybody that believes in the principles of justice, equity and fair play.”
Mr Giwa also saluted the courage and maturity displayed by the people of the community during the ‘trying period’. He disclosed that their decision to rally round the Council by giving them necessary support contributed to the success recorded in the long run.
The businessman, therefore, called on all parties concerned in the chieftaincy struggle to close ranks and support the new Ola of Lagun in the interest of the people and to move the community to a better position.
While promised to continue doing whatever within his capacity to support the people and the community at large, Arc. Giwa called on well meaning and successful indigenes of Lagun to join hands together to develop their source (Lagun).
