Some Governors on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party and party chieftains on Wednesday stormed Zamfara State to meet with the state Governor, Bello Matawalle in Gusau, state capital.
This is just a few days after some All Progressives Congress governors led by its national caretaker chairman and Yobe governor, Mai Buni also visited the state.
Westernlifenews gathered that Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), were in the state to persuade Matawelle to remain with the PDP.
It will be recalled during APC governors’ visit, they donated 50 million Naira for the victims of Gusau market inferno.
The PDP however noted the gesture of APC governors as political.
Tambuwal who led the PDP delegation, said “the visit by the APC to Zamfara on Monday was an attempt to play politics with the recent Gusau market fire”.
He said, “We can’t be intimidated by federal might, Zamfara is our home and no visitor can supplant the homeowner.
“I pity leaders that seek to take advantage of people’s misfortune for their selfish interest. Governor Matawalle is our brother and we are going to work with him come rain come shine,” Tambuwal added.
The Sokoto State Governor therefore announced a donation of N100 million on behalf of the PDP Governors Forum for the victims of the market fire.
Responding, Matawelle thanked his colleagues for their gestures, but noted that he shouldn’t be blamed for accepting help from the APC who offered it when he needed it.
“If a crying child is abandoned by his mother by the roadside, he takes help from whoever offers it to him,” he said.
