The South-West All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has elected Otunba Femi Oke as its new chairman.
The group announced this decision after its meeting held in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on Thursday.
According to Mr. A. O. Okeya, a member of national Appeal Committee of AFAN, who read the communiqué, Mr. Oke would be taken over from Engr. Ayinla Olumide, the chairman of Oyo State chapter, whose tenure has elapsed.
Mr. Okeya also said the meeting resolved unanimously to organise elections in Oyo, Ondo and Ogun State to elect new officers to manage the affairs of the association in those states.
The elections, he said, would be conducted by the electoral officers to be appointed from the AFAN national office in Abuja.
The group also disowned Mr. Segun Desaolu, the chairman of AFAN in Ogun State, who it said, has been parading himself as the Co-ordinator of South-West Farmers Forum and at the same time obstructing the conduct of election of AFAN in Ogun state since 2013.
The group however called on Desaolu to stop forthwith his plot to destabilise the South-West AFAN.
The meeting was attended by the chairmen of the six south-west states, some national officers and prominent members of AFAN in south-west states.
